Rutgers: SRHR Education

I learned of Rugters- an international organization working for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). And as I share about things I learn I thought to I would share what I learnt about Rugters and its amazing work.

But first it is important to understand why SRHR are important. In many parts of the world women as well as men face the lack of knowledge about sexual and reproductive health (SRH) either because its not a normal in the society or they have never had access to correct information.

Many young girls across the globe are forced into married and unwanted sex putting them at risk. Adolescent boys are t risk too. other than being at risk of STD like STI, HIV these young people face other problems include unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortion, dangerous childbirth, mortality, etc. If only they knew their right, these girls/boys would have choose differently.

Rugters works specifically for young adolescents and women, have involved young people in their work to educate. Because young people inform other young people about the correct information and where to get them.

Demand: Rutgers educate people about SRHR and its importance

Supply: It provide access to the basic health product, services and information through online course, info-website, and via texts.

Support: It builds a supportive environment for people to work for SR-HR and makes society open to talk about issue tabooed by their norms and culture. And involves governments and stakeholders to make policy level changes.

I really like their work in involving young people and educating them and they as a leader spread their learning with their peers.
